St Louis “Letting Off A Little Steam” Tea Party

Saturday November 28th, 2009 was an exciting time in downtown St Louis at Kiener Plaza. The St Louis “Letting Off A Little Steam” Tea Party got underway at Noon and lasted until 3:00 p.m. The featured speaker was James O’Keefe of the famous Acorn Documentary Videos fame. He was joined by Mike Carey, President of Ohio Coal Association, and Stephen Rubach. Also there were Lyda Loudon speaking about the Youth Movement, Dave McArthur of McArthur’s Bakery in St Louis, and, of course, Dana Loesche, renowned leader of Tea Parties nationally. The crowd, estimated at about 4,000 in the St Louis Post Dispatch, was very involved in the speaker’s messages and was clearly “grassroots” by anyone’s definition, except maybe Nancy Pelosi.

St Clair County was well represented thanks to Steve Amos, Precinct Committeeman from Caseyville, and his wife Ellen and other family members. Steve made a very large “St Clair County Illinois” banner and had a table set up on the plaza. He was busy recruiting potential Precinct Committeemen for next year and signed up about 8-10 people for our Central Committee Chairman to contact. The Metro East Pachyderm Club was well-represented by Richard Davis, Vice President, and Mary Thurman, Secretary. (Steve is also a Pachyderm) The St Clair County representatives spent their time discussing the need in our county for much more involvement from citizens. What better captive audience than people taking time to attend a conservative rally. We believe we talked to some great potential helpers in St Clair County. Special thanks to Steve Amos for all his hard work. He is a great public servant.
